AutoWorld Display Case

There seems to be a lot of options when it comes to display cases for 1/64 scale cars. I was in the store Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon in hand looking for something to buy in their diecast section when I came across this AutoWorld “gallery showcase.”

It was priced at $16.99, but after the coupon it came down to $10.19. I thought that was a fair price considering it came with an AutoWorld 1987 Chevy Camaro Z/28 car that I would have purchased separately. The case itself seems to be of good quality. It is crystal clear, has a fold-down door to keep the cars dust free, holds up to six cars in their own compartments, and includes an optional “mirror” sticker sheet to put on the back if you choose to.

If you happen to own more than one of these cases you can interlock them as shown on the back of the box. I thought this was a nice feature that set it apart from other cases.

The car itself was a slight disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to have it and it goes well with the new Hot Wheels Walmart Exclusive set celebrating 50 years of Camaros, but I had assumed because it was AutoWorld car that the base would have been metal and the tires rubber. That is not the case, the base and tires are plastic. Even with the plastic, it’s an impressive model!

From what I can tell this package is a Hobby Lobby Exclusive. I have been to other Hobby Lobby locations in the area and have noticed that all of the AutoWorld “gallery showcases” come with the same Camaro. I’d be more inclined to pick up a second showcase if there was a different car in them. Perhaps the included car is “seasonal” and a new one will be included at a later date.

If you’re interested in getting one for yourself, Hobby Lobby seems to always have some sort of coupon. Check their website  to see if one is available before heading to the store.
